Introduction
architectem was established by Emma
Whitworth Architect in late 2009. It is a small practice that prides
itself on providing good, efficient service, personally delivered by
highly qualified and experienced staff.
Emma has spent her 20 year career working in small Architectural
practices where she has always been involved in, and developed
considerable expertise in, all stages of the design, approvals and
construction process. Emma is therefore well qualified for her new role
as Director of architectem.
Emma has had experience with a wide range of commercial building
projects varying in size from $20,000 minor alterations to $20 million
new buildings. architectem aims to give the same level of care and
attention to any project, no matter what size or type.
Aged Care is an area in which Emma has had an ongoing interest since
completing a final year university dissertation and thesis design on
the subject. Emma has experience of Aged Care design in Australia,
Germany and the UK and is keen that architectem should continue to work
in this area. In recent years, Emma has developed a detailed knowledge
of Building Code of Australia, SEPP Seniors and Commonwealth Government
Certification requirements for Aged Care and takes trouble to keep this
knowledge up-to-date.
Emma Whitworth is also experienced in working in a Design &
Construct arrangement, both currently with architectem and also on more
major projects whilst employed at GMA. Emma sees great advantages in
this delivery method for all concerned and enjoys being involved in a
multi-disciplinary team from the outset of the design. Emma also enjoys
the challenge of finding good design solutions that can be achieved
within the project budget.
